The Fal'cie were planning to destroy the world of Cocoon, to bring back the maker with a sacrifice of millions of lives for all who lived there, but...why not just take out other worlds while they were at it? Get l'cie to have a focus to destroy the multipule worlds that were out there, and get more power to the Fal'cie.
